The Lincoln Community Coalition of Nevada is launching an ambitious new fundraising campaign to bring the joy and pride of book ownership to children across Lincoln County. In partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, they will provide one age-appropriate, high-quality book every month to children from birth to age five — for free. The program is made possible thanks to The Dollywood Foundation and local community sponsors.
“Early literacy is the cornerstone of educational success and lifelong learning,” said Coalition Chair September Barnes. “Through initiatives like the Imagination Library program, we are not merely providing books to children; we are fostering a love for reading and expanding their horizons. By giving every child greater access to books, we empower them to discover new ideas, ignite their creativity, and build the essential skills they need to thrive in school and beyond. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to embrace the transformative power of literacy, setting them on a path to a brighter and more prosperous future.”
The Community Coalition is hoping to register around 200 children county-wide to receive books through the Imagination Library. Before books can begin shipping, $4000 in funding will need to be raised. This will cover the cost of the fist 2-4 years of operating the program in Lincoln County.
“The Dollywood Foundation is excited that all families in Lincoln County Nevada will now have access to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! The children in this county can join more than 3 million others, across five countries, to receive free books every month until their 5th birthday. Thank you to the Lincoln Community Coalition for working so hard to bring this program to your community!” – Rachel King, Senior Regional Director, The Dollywood Foundation.
While the Dollywood Foundation covers all the overhead costs of the Imagination Library program, it is up to each local community to cover the cost of printing and shipping the books sent to their area. All the funds that are raised locally go directly back into our community in the form of books. The Coalition is able to offer the following sponsorship opportunities:
$26 – Adopt-a-child – Cover the cost of books for one child for one year. Donations will be recognized on the Coalition website.
