As summer approaches, 4-H activities will bring fun and educational experiences to children all over the county. Children ages 5-19 can engage in an assortment of hands-on youth development experiences, with classes in Alamo, Panaca, Caliente and Pioche. The 4-H educational program is an extension of University of Nevada, Reno, with 49,000 Nevada youth currently participating.
4-H has an assortment of classes scheduled to keep youth busy all summer long, including cooking/baking, leatherwork, arts and crafts, science-oriented classes, photography, sewing, shooting sports and even nerf gun fun. Sign up online at www.4honline.com, where you can view a listing for each available class. There is a $5 council fee, with each class having individual additional charges to cover the cost of materials.
Cindy Higbee noted the importance of registering kids as soon as possible, saying, “The sooner the better, as most classes start in June.”
Individuals are encouraged to reach out to Higbee with questions at higbeec@unr.edu.
Communication, leadership and career development qualities like STEM are highlighted through each class.
