April is dedicated to educating the public on Alcohol Responsibility Awareness. In an attempt to eliminate underage drinking, and put a stop to drunk and impaired driving, while spreading awareness on the effects of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), Lincoln Community Coalition of Nevada is dedicated to showing the adverse impact of alcohol use and empowering adults of legal drinking age to do so responsibly.
Alcohol use continues to be a public health problem affecting adults and children. In an attempt to educate teens and parents on the dangers of alcohol misuse, the National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) sponsors Alcohol Responsibility Awareness, encouraging communities to educate and practice alcohol safety. According to a study from Responsibility.org, “A majority of teens report that they have never consumed alcohol – 80% of students in 8th grade, 64% of 10th graders, and 47% of 12th graders. All alcohol-free!” These encouraging statistics mark the start of spreading awareness of the hidden danger alcohol has on the younger populations. Continued education on alcohol misuse continues to be beneficial in preventing youth consumption.
You may be wondering how you can help take part in Alcohol Responsibility Awareness Month: The We Don’t Serve Teens campaign can be a great start, by pledging to never serve, supply, or sell alcohol to underage teens.
The Lincoln County Coalition is participating in Alcohol Responsibility Awareness Month by providing information and materials to businesses that sell alcohol in Lincoln County in a continued effort to spread awareness.
