Lincoln County Record
The Lincoln Community Coalition of Nevada held a regular meeting Feb. 27. Board members, coalition staff and interested parties gathered to hear updates and provide input for community initiatives.
Volunteer Diedre Mower requested support for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program during the agency spotlight. The countywide program would provide age-appropriate books for children up to age five. Mower hopes to work with the coalition to raise $4,000 in funds to build the program locally. Additional information, including fundraising ideas, participation expectations and participant benefit events, will be presented to the executive board members at a later time.
Coalition staff Hayley Gloeckner and Crystal Dineley were joined by coalition director Charli Miller in sharing recent staff achievements. Each shared the status of training and future events following a recap of the Feb. 15 dance held for Meadow Valley Middle School (MVMS).
The Catch My Breath program is now in MVMS. High school presentations will return March 13. A large Naloxone training is being prepared for presentation at the courthouse. Staff continue to work toward making training available across Lincoln County. Preparations have already started for the 2024-2025 school year.
Subcommittee updates featured announcements and project statuses. The behavioral health subcommittee members presented fliers for peer recovery support specialist training and a survey drafted for local church leaders related to suicide prevention. The infrastructure and system development subcommittee shared a newly drafted informational tip sheet to help those applying and searching for grants.
