Meadow Valley Middle School (MVMS) students had their chance to participate in a Teen Night Luau hosted by the Lincoln County Coalition. Excited teens donned flower leis and spent the evening focusing on positive social interaction. Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Servicing Lincoln County and NyE Communities Coalition joined in the efforts to provide entertainment and refreshments. The May 4 luau was sponsored by Nevada Bank & Trust and hosted in the gym at the Neldon C. Mathews Auditorium.
From 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. the station volunteers provided hot dogs, fresh popcorn, icees, candy and snacks to the excited middle schoolers. Bounce houses filled the center of the gym and students spent time rotating between art, photo booth, Just Dance, and karaoke stations. All activities were available at no cost to the teens and raffle tickets and prizes were provided for participation.
The Lincoln County Coalition plans to continue bringing exciting events to local youth. The next teen night event will take place in Alamo and ideas are being shared for additional events in the next school year.
