Lincoln County High School (LCHS) students were invited to participate in a Spring Teen Night hosted by the Lincoln County Coalition and NyE Communities Coalition (NyECC).
The March 30 social event was sponsored by Nevada Bank & Trust and hosted in the Lynx Lounge at LCHS. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Hayley Gloekner, Amber Pike, Crystal Dineley and other station volunteers guided students through the fun-filled event. Attendees collected raffle tickets, sub sandwiches and candy upon their arrival. Teens spent the evening rotating through the many activity stations, including cornhole boards, a foosball table and Just Dance on the big screen.
At the art station, attendees were invited to express themselves with a creative canvas painting. After paintings were completed, students had the option of having their masterpieces touched up by the experienced artist hosting the station.
The photo booth station provided event attendees with the opportunity to play dress up using a variety of accessories. Once a costume was complete, the participants chose their lighting and struck a pose for the professional photographer hosting the station. Each individual and group left the photography station excited to receive their edited images the next morning. Some students rallied together to create a karaoke station, where attendees and many of the hosts joined in the showcase of vocal talent. Several of the songs performed turned into large group numbers as the karaoke activity station quickly became the crowd favorite.
All activities were available at no cost to the teens, and at some stations, visitors were provided with extra raffle tickets for participation. Throughout the night, raffle winners walked away with gift cards, camping accessories, a photoshoot voucher and a variety of other exciting prizes donated by local businesses.
The Lincoln County Coalition and NyECC plan to bring additional youth-centered events to the community, including an upcoming activity night for students of Meadow Valley Middle School.
