An upcoming fundraiser dinner promises to provide “tools and methods to keep the community safe for kids and hostile to predators.”
The event will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 4 p.m. at the Overland Hotel Conference Room at 662 Main Street in Pioche.
In addition to educating community members on the potential dangers children face in today’s society, proceeds will go toward providing transportation services for the new Boys & Girls Club in Lincoln County.
The event will feature keynote speaker Dottie Laster, who has led Department of Justice-funded task forces in Texas and California. Laster, who “triggered the largest rescue of human trafficking victims in U.S. history in 2005,” will speak on child trafficking prevention and online safety education for parents.
Dr. Michael Roth, principal of the Meadow Valley Middle School, will also be giving a “State of the Students” address. Travis Constantine, director of the local Boys & Girls Club and staff will also be in attendance to share info on the club and help anyone who wants to sign up for the club.
The Historic Silver Cafe will serve barbecue dinner plates containing brisket, chicken and mouth-watering ribs for $35. Five raffle tickets are included with the dinner. The club will also be raising money through a raffle and an auction. Raffle prizes include two Boys & Girls Club shirts signed by Jay Allen, an autographed photo from Jay Allen, two tickets to Tom Bennett’s concert on April 15, two knife sets and dinner vouchers for two donated by Get Sauced NV BBQ Bus. Auction items include photo shoots, kitchen sets and local artwork.
