Turning Point, Inc. under the direction of the Nevada Department of Education, conducted a focus group at the Jan. 26 LC Coalition Meeting as part of a Trauma Recovery Demonstration Grant.
The focused group discussed the topic of trauma and its effect on people and the community, as well as resources that are available in Lincoln County to assist those who have experienced trauma.
If there are any mental health providers who might be interested in signing up for the program (to receive payment for uninsured and underinsured children and youth who have a history of trauma), they can contact Candace Bortolin at the Department of Education – cbortolin@doe.nv.gov. Candace also maintains a list of eligible providers, so if anyone locally are working with eligible young people in need of trauma-related mental health services, she is happy to share the list of where they can access care.
